How To Reduce The Appearance of Stretch Marks
August 4, 2016
Stretch marks, most often associated with the rapid growth spurts and high hormonal levels that occur during pregnancy.
They’re something the majority of us have had to embrace and accept, and much to our despair have often struggled with shifting. They are however, superficial scars that appear when the dermis layer of the skin is torn, we repeat, superficial, meaning there are things you can do to at least make them slightly less visible, and we’re about to help you know how!
A habit we should all get into is dry body brushing. Each morning before you shower or bath, body brush from the soles of your feet upwards to your neck using circular motions. It might make you cringe at first, but you’ll get used to it and once you start to see results, it’ll become a valid part of your morning routine. Our lymphatic system won’t drain itself, so dry body brushing gives it that extra push. The motion of the body brush stimulates circulation and collagen and will plump out your skin, therefore helping to fill out any stretch marks or scars. Really put some elbow grease into it, the harder the better!
Another great way to help reduce visible stretch marks is to use body oil. We’re not here to sugar coat things, we know it’s a bit of an inconvenience to smother yourself in oil before you get dressed in the morning, but massaging it onto the desired areas you want to improve can create some incredible results. Go about doing other morning tasks that are acceptable to endure with no clothes on, then once the oil has soaked in you can get dressed and on your way!
Pregnancy skincare brand Mama mio have a range of products that specifically target stretch marks, so involving these in your routine will have significant results. One product in particular, Goodbye Stretch Marks contains a powerful blend of peptides, fruit extracts and nourishing oils that help minimise the appearance of stretch marks, and it’s safe to use whilst pregnant!
